Biography
Lamar Alexander is said to have walked a thousand miles across Tennessee-- literally--in 1978 to become its Governor. After two successful terms as governor, he was selected to serve as the president of The University of Tennessee in 1988. Three years later, in 1991, the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed him as President Bush's Secretary of Education. He now lives in Nashville, where he is counsel to the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, and Caldwell.
