Biography
Burke lived for most of his professional life in Germany. Before leaving the States, he wrote for Esquire magazine in the 1930s. From 1945-46 he was a war correspondent in and later he was the staff correspondent in Berlin for the Indianapolis News. He attended the University of Tennessee for his undergraduate degree, taking his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Southern California and Chicago, respetively.
